One of my tasks as a volunteer gardener at Michelham Priory, last Tuesday was to cut down dead stems. These included the dead stems of Fuller’s Teasel (Dipsacus fullonum). The fruiting spikes were sprouting seedlings.  Some of the seedlings had also produced tiny secondary leaves complete with serrated edges, hairs and prickles.  The continuous rainfall appears to have encouraged germination on the plants.
