Members are encouraged to add pictures to the Gallery. Please only add pictures taken in Sussex and those which are positively identified. If you need help to identify plants from your pictures, you can post them to the SBRS Facebook group, or use iSpot.
To add pictures, you need to have a Flickr account and upload them there.
Then, to add the pictures to the gallery you need to join the SBRS Flickr group; your membership of that group will need to first need to be approved by the administrator.
You also need to ensure that your pictures are set to Public access; this can be set in your account settings, or when you upload a picture, under the ‘Owner settings’ on the left; you may need to edit an existing setting. If your photos are set to Private, though they may appear on Flickr, they won’t appear on the website (it needs to say “Visible to everyone”; see the screenshot below).
When you add a picture, please can you follow the following guidelines:
- The image title should take the form “Scientific name (Common name)”, eg “Rosa canina (Dog Rose)”: This goes in the top text field immediately under the picture
- and the image caption should be in the form “Place. Date. Photo credit” eg “Tablehurst Farm, Forest Row. 14 June 2015. Photo: Brad Scott”: This goes in the data field below the title (where it says “Add a description” in the screenshot)
Finally, ensure that any pictures you post on Flickr are also included in the SBRS group (see the “Add to groups” option in the screenshot), else they will not appear on the society’s website.
It may take 24 hours for your images to appear on the site.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
