Spring greens
Cochlearica danica (Danish Scurvygrass) is a halophyte that has spread rapidly along the salted verges of major roads in this country in recent years. Here it is greeting the spring days on Seaford beach, a habitat more similar to its originally preferred seaside location.
Crambe maritima (Sea-kale) in spring looks very similar to plants that might be found in a kitchen garden, but the woody stock shows just how long lived the sea cabbage may be.
